Which would you choose?
New offer: $10 more per hour, fully remote (1 day in office to a 2.5 commute 1 way per month), a step down from current career trajectory. The schedule says overtime is expected and you cater to lenders often.
Current: Counter offer in progress, fully remote but with a 3 day a week RTO incoming (30 minute commute 1 way), been with this company for an accumulated 10 years & on a leadership trajectory over a department, When you clock out, you’re done.

Any idea what the next step on the leadership trajectory would look like with current company? Specifically when you'll reach it and the comp. That's what I'd be focusing on. If it's 2 years or less and will pay a good amount more than the new offer, that's what I'd go for.

Do you know what full remote means?

Fully was prob a bad choice of words for OP, but I would consider 1 day/month pretty remote 😂

I would take the new offer just to be fully remote. I don't want to have to commute back and forth to work, personally. And a raise on top of that would be really nice.

If you really want to stick to the leadership path, I would either stay or make it a big selling point on the other offer. For the commute/WFH stuff. The first would be 5 hours a month in a car, the second is approximately 12 hours a month. Then have to also figure out if the extra money is worth the slight lack of WLB, at least compared to the current company.

Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Started a new job a year ago, high performer. My manager suggested a promotion to Product Manager since that‘s the work I’m doing, but that would be a 50% raise. Higher ups decided instead to make a “new role” (not PM), that has no analog in the company and is hard to price via Glassdoor, etc. I feel like this is to limit my promotion salary to something like 10% from where it currently is. Is there anything I can do? FWIW: I have a PhD from top 5 program and am working in that field. Thanks!

I received a job offer from company A and am currently negotiating salary. I have an interview with company B next week and know that they offer a higher base pay. There’s no guarantee that I will be offered a job at company B but my gut is telling me that company B would be a better fit for me. Should I accept the offer from company A, continue interview process with company B and then rescind my offer with company A if company B offers me a job? Will I be burning bridges?

I’ve been approached my by company that one of our large clients (who im currently project managing for) is looking for a consultant of sorts, and if they hire us, I’d be the first person asked to take on this consultant role. This isn’t something my company typically offers and would greatly change the scope of my role. Has anyone ever taken on a role like this? If so, were you able to negotiate a percentage of the consulting fee? Or was it a bump in salary during the project?

Got offered 68k after 2 years as a contractor (62.5k) doing project management/business admin in a tech department at a Fortune 500 bank. I have an A.S degree and working on my bachelor’s/masters may 2024. I negotiated to 84k NYC. I have seen interns get offered 38 per hour (79k) for internship positions with a similar role.

Thoughts? Should I go higher? I do my job well that’s why they decided to keep me as a contractor after my internship.
