Why do toxic workplaces insist on celebrating everything with forced cheer? We’re overworked, understaffed, and underpaid, but sure, let’s all gather awkwardly for cake while pretending we aren’t drowning. Last month we had an Appreciation Day with cupcakes and zero acknowledgment of the 60-hour weeks we’ve been putting in. Does anyone else feel like this just makes things worse? What would actually make you feel appreciated.
