That is sound logic but I promise you the last thing they want is to pay us
Because, like, they want to pay you. Relax = lose pitch = layoffs.

Razor thin margins in this business so every pitch matters. I’d just argue that it’s not a very good business. 🤷♂️
I agree that internal timelines are nuts on pitches. And it seems self imposed. But look at the bureaucratic politics.
1) need to nail the strategy coming off the pitch story. Legit concern. And business leaders tend to see that as more important and time worthy than creative
2) everyone wants to see it and have comments. That means lots of check ins. So lots of hurry, don’t think through the creative process and then meet and over think and pivot. That’s massively inefficient.
3) creative time is being slashed and devalued regularly now
4) In places that are super bureaucratic and divided, if you don’t work furiously and then don’t win the pitch, you’re vulnerable to some dept saying it was creative’s fault, not theirs. It’s about optics.
5) just a bad holdover culturally speaking.
6) there is actually a lot going on so better safe than sorry getting it all done
7) got to leave time to obsess over the minutia at the end.
