Full time creatives who freelance: how do you get these freelance opportunities?

Currently working full time and have no intention of going fully freelance any time soon, but would love to know the best places/sites to look for these freelance opportunities that allow you to do your full-time responsibilities on top of some freelance work.

Pivoting away from Sales: I’ve been in sales positions for 15 years, and I’m just exhausted by the role (disputing commissions, arguing about deals, all of it). I have a degree in marketing, but I am having a hard time landing interviews since I’ve never had a strictly marketing only role. I left biglaw after 3 years to a mid-size firm. Took a pay cut but the hours, people, culture and work were so much better I never thought twice about the salary or “prestige.” Ultimately I started 2 very small firms. I am not rich by biglaw standards but I have a very comfortable life and put my kids through college with no debt. 35 years after leaving big law, people are still impressed when I say I started there. I feel like I still had the benefits of the connection w/o the suffering.

I've been working as a freelancer for the last 1yr as a UI/UX designer. Now I'm thinking of switching back to a full time job in the same field. Usually companies ask what's your current and expected CTC. In this situation, what would be the best response? Shall I give them my last invoice that I got paid or tell them it's variable?
Also, what should be the expected CTC with 4 YOE in Product design or UI/UX role?

Not consistently reliable and solid performance. Not keeping the client happy and profitable. “You either win an award, or all ya get is to keep your job.”
