were supposed to “work 90 hours to build the nation,” but no one mentioned that our salary increments were part of the next five-year plan.
And when people asked about hikes, HR took inspiration from their L&T counterparts —
> “You’re misunderstanding the context… It’s not about hikes, it’s about passion.”
“The Chairman genuinely cares for employees. Extraordinary outcomes require extraordinary patience. Hikes will arrive when India achieves a $5-trillion economy.”
At this point, it feels like Subrahmanyan’s ‘extraordinary effort’ line got lost in translation — employees took the effort part, the company took the extraordinary.
Meanwhile, the HR slide deck says, “Our Chairman truly cares for employees.”
Sure — like a gardener cares for a cactus: minimal nourishment, maximum survival test.
. They keep saying extraordinary outcomes need extraordinary patience.
At this point, employees have the patience of monks — minus the peace and with double the workload.
So yeah, LTIMINDTREE didn’t delay hikes… they’re just building the nation one unpaid hour at a time.
