WLB check strict 8-5 (NAB) vs flexible 9-4ish (Macquarie) which would you pick?

Two offers, similar comp. One has strict 8-5 in-office shift timing, more technical IC role. Other has flexible hours techno-functional/leadership-track role, but domain is Financial (heard it can get reactive/firefighting at times).

Leaning toward the flexible one mainly for WLB + leadership path, but wanted to sanity check — does "flexible timing" usually hold up in practice?
