Need some help! Currently live in TX but work as an independent contractor (remote) for a NYC based company - do I still need to pay NY state convenience tax on income or would this only apply as a full-time employee?

Currently working with a LS consulting firm who is looking for talent at the AP level. Position is client services oriented so having a BD foundation in pharma, biotech and/or med device is ideal. The "confrontation" is really difficult for me lol. I actually like my current boss and she's been helpful and made me feel like she looks out for me too. But the new opportunity is too good to pass up on (huge increase to pay. No concerns on the team since ive worked with those people in the past in a different company)

I'm a cashier. We just got a new manager, and she's making things really hard for us.
