Not on your life. Mine is the meanest person in the world. I bet if I said I was feeling overworked, she would be thrilled and assign me even more to do.
It could depend on circumstances. If your workload has increased lately, it's good to talk to your manager and address that. If you can't really establish that you've been doing more lately, you don't have as good an argument for a bump in compensation. In any conversation, make it about yourself and what a good job you're doing and what a valuable employee you've become. Focus on that theme of how you've grown in the position.

Honestly, I’d bring it up, just keep it constructive. Maybe frame it around wanting to do your best work but feeling stretched thin. You can discuss either adjusting workload or compensation. First one-on-ones are always a bit nerve-wracking, but being honest usually goes better than you think.
Almost never, I learned not to speak up when I asked for a pay raise from a position change that they both denied and proceeded to criticize me on why I was not doing enough to work on my finances. I explained that I was doing everything I just thought that because I took on a different role with new responsibilities that it would come with a dollar raise to that position. Nope!
