Annual executive health exam, skin check up with dermo, dental cleanings, etc. really nothing else to do unless something is acting up
Our firm offers exec health exams in addition to your regular physical. It basically includes a bunch more tests that could potentially flag something. We’re able to see the historical charts online, which is cool to be able to look through.
Outside of that, I’ve found I really need to dedicate daily time to stretching.
The best steps to take now are daily and weekly regimented routines that keep you healthier. Walk 8k to 10k steps per day, drink plenty of water, try and get seven hours of sleep, adopt a Mediterranean diet, drink less alcohol, try and get 15 to 20 minutes of sunlight, a day, etc. i’m 39 with two kids and did everything I just mentioned. All that, plus my gym days, and I feel great. Everyone obviously differs a little bit, but it’s a good starting point.
I’m 40 with two kids. Two things I did that I don’t regret are (1) Found a top notch PCP that really knows his stuff. He’s up to date with research and just leaps and bounds better than my previous PCP. (2) Spent time figuring out the right supplements and daily multivitamin for my needs.
Plenty of work to dial in my eating habits, but my tests and energy levels have improved significantly
Primary Care Physician - or Phencyclidine that makes you hallucinate a doctor
Why do annual physicals? I just go to the doctor when have issues (with exception for skin cancer checks). Is this a cultural thing? (Australian 40 y.o. here)
It’s often recommended and covered by insurance in the US
About to be 40 and about to have 4th. As others mentioned, look into supplements/vitamins. I take several to monitor hypertension and cholesterol due to my/family history. That’s in spite of being fit and dieting.
Keep the annual checkups but ask hard(er) questions. No PCP is going to bat 1000 all the time. Get your skin checked. Clean your teeth. Get a prostate exam. Take care of your mental health. Look into a colonoscopy (not literally).
39yo father of 4 existing on a diet of GLP1, Diet Coke and doom scrolling. I guess I should take note of some of these very constructive suggestions! 🙂
