Any recommendations for renter-friendly (no drilling) floating shelves? I have a lot of blank wall space, and I figure adding floating shelves with small plants or photo frames would look nice. But everything I’m finding requires drilling, which I can’t do in my apartment. Without drilling, I’m not sure if I have any sturdy enough options. Ideas?

Drill.
Then when you move out, pay someone to fill the holes and paint.

This is the move. I’ve put probably 100 holes in my current apartment walls. I’ll just patch them all up (or more likely pay some to) before we move out.

like

Anything that doesn’t require drilling won’t be able to support any weight. Just fill the hole when you leave. Landlord has to repaint before a new tenant anyways.

Seriously. Those stick on ones supposed to support 20lbs or whatever. All nonsense. Since they peel off with the paint. Will have to pay for damages now anyway 😂

If you’re afraid to drill a few holes for shelves you’d have a heart attack in my apartment 😂 i have so much stuff (art/shelves/pendant lights/tvs/mirrors/etc) hanging. Make the place homey and functional. It’s super easy to patch screw holes. Make sure you use good anchors so your shelves are sturdy.

We’re probably neck and neck for the title here 😂

Ok folks, you’ve convinced me to just drill! 🎉 But now my next question, is do I need to use a stud finder? Or any other tips specifically on how to drill with leaving minimal damage?

On the flip side, if you live in a pre-war, you may have the opposite problem. The walls are often brick and/or lath & plaster - in which case you will need a specialty masonry drill and anchors.

On the bright side, anything you mount like that will stay on the wall until you either deliberately take it down or the building collapses 😉

I am planning to shift to Data Analyst/Data scientist role. Right now i work for a project where I'm a software eng & we have to maintain our application on C++ code. It is more like support/dev and unit testing combined. Coding is hardly involved and my hold on DS is weak so not sure if I'll be able to crack technical interviews for C++ dev or anything similar.
So is this a right decision to move from application dev role to Data Science/analyst field? Does software engineer gets paid more?
