A coworker and I once made the exact same scheduling mistake on a busy weekend. Same shift mix up, same outcome. Management pulled me aside for a long talk, but when it happened to them a week later it was brushed off with a quick “these things happen.” Later that day a guest vented about a delayed flight and terrible traffic, then paused and said, “I know it’s not your fault.” Funny how a little awareness can change the whole tone of a moment.

You have to love the double standards. At least the customer recognized you didn’t do anything wrong. That’s pretty rare these days.
