I would say keep the work drama at work and do not get her involved. When I have staff out on leave and they ask about work stuff I tell them I’ll get you acclimated to the changes at your return date but tell me how’s being a mom and the baby doing!
Keep work stuff short but focus on her new addition you can always fill her in on new jokes and other things but leave the negative out of all conversations

I agree, thank you!
Personally, I think people should get a break from work when they are out on a leave or a vacation
I think it is better for her to wait to hear about things from work until she returns. That way she can focus on her leave in peace. If she hears it now she will likely stress about it and it will interrupt her mentally if she tends to worry.
Keep it to yourself. My question is to the leadership. What are they doing to address the drama? Drama is toxic so even when she returns, taking that stress home isn't good. The first year for mama is going to be very hard, last thing she needs is a toxic workplace.
