A Technical PM to join the team is normal growth; especially if it's organizational transformation. The Technical PM will ensure IT plans are in alignment with business goals, track project progress, communicate challenges to leadership and business stakeholders including dependencies and leading cross-functional teams. If you are moving to the business side it sounds like your expertise is needed for a Product Owner or Functional Manager. I've experienced similar transitions and from a growth and ownership perspective, I focused on enhancing my communication skills, follow-up practices and reporting abilities, while also recognizing and understanding the value I brought to the team. I wouldn't be concerned; the responsibilities of the TPM role involves 75%-90% of communication. Best wishes! Invest in yourself; it's your biggest asset!!!
