This article has some general inaccuracies, a lot of speculation by the UT governor who has already made some very public and very incorrect statements about this situation, and then jumps to some cobbled together theories based on other mass shootings. Parents and teachers should be aware of the dangers of the internet in general. It seems premature to link this specific shooting to online gaming though and ignore some of the very real world issues at play here for the general public.
I find it very interesting that you’re a teacher and you’re sharing just completely inaccurate information. I’m also rather surprised that a teacher cares more about a bigot being murdered than they do the innocent children that were also gunned down that day in yet another school shooting. No one seems to care about them though. Just the racist that spread hate and division
All this dissecting of the shooter but what we should really be looking at is who and what is driving the divisions in our society, and Charlie was a large part of that hate and that problem.
We need to get at the root cause of why the extreme right has taken up and counties a narrative of the left as the enemy and that it’s not about political
Differences of opinion and debate and compromise by ideological right vs wrong.

M1-
So are you saying that gaming on platforms such as Discord, Twitch, and Steam, are not being exploited by extremist groups to recruit and radicalize our kids/young people in the US?
I don't know, my kids (3 young adults) tell me that these platforms provide such a rich environment where vile and repulsive propaganda is spread, hateful ideologies are completely normalized, and political radicalization is the entire point.
Do you disagree with this?
