I've been in manual testing for 80% of my career. Despite attempts to transfer into a more code-centric role, I never got the opportunity to do so. Now that I'm in a management role, I feel like it's too late to enhance my programming skills.
Suppose I want to transition into a developer role, will self-study be sufficient for passing the necessary requirements for coding jobs? Lately, I've been learning python and using what I learned by solving problems at leetcode.
Any other Penn JD's here? Feeling slightly weird about the renaming. Of course a gift of $125 mil allows a donor to make all sorts of demands. But seeing it so clearly...wow
Looking to transfer to advisory in EY or Deloitte. Can any fishies refer me to ARA/FAAS? I'm a senior in assurance and my CPA licensure is pending (looking like I'll get it next week). Rated tier 1 as well in PwC
Folks that have worked in Big Law in other areas of the country, what do you feel is different about being in Texas? I've been offered a role in NYC but may decline because I'm just happier here, culturally.
Got a $1000 flight voucher from Delta recently. Has any other 🐠s ever redeemed multiple separate flight purchases on a single voucher before? I.e. Are these vouchers
We gonna need an IPA or ten, based on a survey of IPA agencies: average age of employees = 33.9 years; over 50s = 6.3%. BAME employees slightly up at 13.8, but only 5.5% of C-suite. Joy.
Recommendations for an Indian restaurant (preferably halal) in Manhattan that can accommodate a party of 30-40 folks? TIA
Bowl Leader Announcement:
Hey all! As Eva mentioned, we’ve got a Wine-Down Wednesday today at 8pm EST 🎉🍷. The event’s purpose is to create a space for us to chat about what’s on our minds, get to know one another, and talk about what we’d want out of a space like this one.
In this thread, please share anything you’d like to talk about: questions for your fellow women in tech, concerns on your mind, etc. You can post these anonymously now and I’ll bring them up later today.
Get excited y’all!
For Google, can you basically only get in with a reference? Should you write up a cover letter with your application? Its optional and my understanding is that companies don’t have time to read it anyway. Currently an lower level counsel at FAANG.
Anyone taken an Easement by Necessity case to trial? I’m wondering what sort of expert could testify on the ‘strict necessity’ prong. Any thoughts?
Any advice for offering services like photography in local area? Looking for ways to make myself known in local community

Manhattan Drinkers. Time to make your own cherries while they are fresh. Get you favorite inexpensive bourbon (4 Roses Yellow Label for me), pit the cherries and soak them in bourbon for a week. The essentially are pickled and will keep a long time in the fridge.
For those who have tried it, is the Ardbeg Traigh Bhan worth it? Seeing prices in the 325-350 range. My favorites are the Uigeadail and the 10, if that helps any fans give their opinion.
It’s been a long day…
Legent is tasty! This bourbon is finished in red wine and sherry casks, and blended by Suntory Master Blender Shinji Fukuyo - who has experience with truly legendary distilleries Hakushu and Yamazaki. A bourbon with noticeable fruit, caramel, and vanilla elements — and a very good bourbon for $40 at Total Wine. I’d rate it 4 out of 5 stars.
Tonight's pour. Got this for $23, so figured why not. VERY light & you can really smell and taste the vanilla.
Doesn’t seem like a lot but out here in the boonies 3hrs from the nearest big city this was a sweet find at the local store!
Tonight’s dram: Old Pulteney 35 Year Old 👀
If you smoke cigars answer this for me. What makes the ideal cigar/whiskey combination? I was gifted a box of Padron 1964's last month and I want to pair them with the best whiskey possible.
As promised, here is my haul from my Nashville/Bardstown trip (including Willett Distillery). My wife is awesome for letting me go wild with the purchases.
It’s Pappy Season!!
What’s everyone drinking tonight? Hit a milestone at work today so poured some Old Fitz 16 year.
OOOOHHHH man! This stuff is GOOD! It's has the initial spice of regular Westward, but then has a nice malty finish afterwards. So good!
Not too shabby.
Cheers to the weekend!
Due to Publicis Sapient's post below, I broke out the Talisker Storm. It's 10pm, but who cares? Good stuff. Haven't had in a while.
Tried Calumet Farm bourbon tonight and was not at all impressed. If you see it, don’t waste your $$$.
It’s an 80s-range bourbon in terms of proof but for the price, I’ve found 90s-range proof bourbon with much better flavor served neat.

Honestly... There's only two distilleries that I know of that could have produced 4 yr bourbon in the hill country of Texas and that's Garrison brothers or Milam & Greene. Both are solid and sell at above $70 bottle
We'll M&Gs distilled stuff is closer to $40 but still solid
AC is my jam. Let us know how it tastes
