Am I the only one who absolutely loathes being called the Office Mom? People think it’s a compliment, but to me, it just infantilizes my skills and makes it seem like I’m there to clean up after grown adults. I’m a coordinator and a strategist, not a parent to 40-year-old VPs. Maybe I'm being too sensitive.

I'm totally with you there. I work with an office manager who refers to herself as that, and she seems to love it. Meanwhile, I would not. It's bad enough that I feel like sometimes I'm looking after toddlers with the way some of these grown adults behave. I'm not here to pick up after people, give them care baskets for whatever reason, and more. I'm here as a professional doing my job.

Agree with you. I'm willing to bet this is a small business. That type of atmosphere seems to be quite common at these places. It sounds like the Office Manager is full of herself too.

I thought this only happened to me! I am 28 years old. I am not old enough to be the office mom. I hate this inside joke but I can’t complain about it because people will call me difficult and not fun to work with.

I would not care to be called that.

Hi- I’m an hourly AA, been on the role for 6 months now and it’s my first AA job. I did not get a raise when I took the job because it was technically a demotion ( I was a team leader at a contact center). I assist two VPs and now they want to add a third because they’re looking for the “ 3:1 ratio “. Should I ask for a raise? Is this normal? I know another AA that handles 3+ people but idk if she’s hourly or salary. Any thoughts?

Happy Wednesday everyone. I'm so excited, I have a recruiter call scheduled with @Meta for Administrative Partner position. I've been in my current employer role for 19 years and I'm nervous as heck. I haven't had to do an interview in so long. Can someone please tell me what to expect with the recruiter call? I'm assuming it will be mostly about the role, my skills and background? Do they ask salary expectations? I have no idea what to say for the salary question. Feedback appreciated. Thanks
