It can be tough to break into a new market, but your bilingual skills are definitely a huge asset! I’d recommend tailoring your resume to highlight your relevant coursework and skills, and maybe even start with an internship or temporary role to build experience. Networking locally can help too! Do you know anyone in your area who's working in accounting??

Can you join professional networks or go to your local employment office and try to build a connection? Temp work might help to meet people too!!

I would say start with an internship. You need to keep applying jobs on Glassdoor, LinkedIn, indeed. Your resume and cover letter should highlight your educational background and any activities or job experience you had while you were in school. Please make sure any job you are applying, your resume and especially your cover letter should highlight why you want this job and not any other job and what makes you a perfect candidate for this job.

I agree with going to Indeed, LinkedIn, and Glassdoor to look at their job section. Use the words "accounting" and "Spanish". Look for staffing agency close to you.

only advice i could give is clean up and tailor your resume to include anything relevant to the role you're applying to. just because it's not accounting work doesn't mean it's not relevant, although verification of previous experience would probably be the bigger issue.

Say I had a “friend” who gained 15 Covid lbs but is still on dating apps with old pics. Is that considered catfishing? She’s not overweight, but not fit anymore. Still good looking...she suspects. Is it best to update the pics? Or get on a BBW dating app? Definite fear of rejection at meeting. Thank God I’m asking for a friend because this shits embarrassing to type.

I’m curious why more non-US citizens interested in FIRE don’t go live in a no/low tax jurisdiction even for a few years e.g. Dubai, some Caribbean islands. Does anyone use a brokerage account instead of a checking account? Mine offers a fee free debit/atm card and free checks which I'd rarely use but starting to question whether it is worth maintaining my "big bank" checking account that requires a $1500 minimum balance.

I also have a local credit union checking/savings that I'd use if I need any services or to deposit cash and a HYSA that gets my paycheck, is used for mortgage and credit card payments, and to transfer to checking or investments.

If you leave J2 and get another (new) J2, does the first J2 show up on new J2 background check? Assuming these are w2 roles. If so, how do you explain that? 🧐
