I vote for Yaba’s Middle Eastern Grill in Logan Square. Delicious hummus and portions were huge for the price. Family owned and very friendly.

Oh! I also love El Nuevo in Lincoln Park which is a female owned business. They have a great patio and delivery margaritas
Andy’s Thai Kitchen in Lakeview. If you can handle spicy they can definitely hook you up. Edgewater Tacos up north is the bomb too!
Taipei Cafe in Bridgeport 😍
Awesome thanks, will try something different this week!
East Lakeview - esencia cafe (brunch with MX influences) and Ms Ts southern fried chicken.
Both are excellent and are small minority family owned businesses.
Any small Mexican burrito place. Tony’s burrito on Belmont and Damen or any place near wrigley. Those guys make a lot of their money on the drunk weekend crowd
Serai in logan square!
Not food related- but Train Moment is a gym that also offers online classes- both live and on demand (TMathome.com)- it’s female and minority owned gym. The couple first opened the gym about a year ago- just before the pandemic- and now is expecting their first baby this winter.
Check them out, especially if you are interested in some online group classes or workouts you can do on your own. The owner-couple are amazing, kind, and gracious and the 5 instructors are top notch and very motivating. Tmathome.com or trainmoment.com
Jung Boo in Avondale
Jerky jerk! Was looking around awhile for good Jamaican food and found this awesome spot. Their wings are fantastic and the jerk chicken (white meat) with rice and peas is top notch
• EuroAsia near Seward Park. One of the few central Asian restaurants in the city!
• Ann’s Bakery in Ukrainian Village. Slavic bakery/deli/grocery store.
Can’t go wrong with their lagman. The manty, borscht, and kurdaak are also really good. By all accounts it’s pretty authentic Kyrgyz/Russian comfort food. One note, the service can seem a little cold but I think that may just be a cultural difference. The prices are great for the food you get.
La Mom chinese in Bridgeport is awesome.
