To move into a Director role, you'll need to demonstrate strong leadership and strategic thinking skills. You should also be confident in your ability to manage a team of employees and deliver results. If you feel ready to take on a Director-level role, start preparing for it by networking with other Directors and learning as much as possible about the responsibilities of the position.
Making a jump from $100,000 to $200,000 in a year is possible, but it will take some effort. You’ll need to increase your skillset and demonstrate that you’re capable of leading a team and driving revenue to get a Director-level role
Have you managed/developed teams? Or have you been an individual contributor for all of those 4-5 years?
Follow up questions!
1. Do you LIKE managing people/do you consider yourself good at it?
2. Do you have other relevant marketing experience before your 4-5 years in growth marketing or was that when you got your start? In most cases I would be looking for ~7-8 years of relevant experience (and recent team management experience) in a potential director, but i guess it all depends on what kind/level of director a company is looking for + what their org looks like around and above director level.
I would become a contractor and charge a daily rate to jump 100k in one year.
Often, the best way to increase your salary is to move to a new company willing to pay you more. You could also look into negotiating a raise with your current company, but this can be difficult if you do not have a lot of leverage. Another option would be to start your own business, which could allow you to make more money but also comes with more risk.
Probably only possible through self-employment as a contractor if you've only got 5 years experience unless you were already managing like 10 people at a fortune100 company.
Apply at tech companies. Your cash might be 140 to 170 but equity will put you up close to or over 200k
