OP, have you considered that A1 could be you future self giving you advice? Beware of warping the space-time continuum
A former colleague who used to run IT at a British department store always asked tech vendors the following question,”So what to you think of our stores?” When they responded with a blank stare, he abruptly ended the meeting and said,”please be better prepared for our next meeting.”
Do some basic diligence by spending time in a mall with a BR, and have informal conversations with store associates. If you don’t have a sense of the front-line realities of retail, how can you be an effective strategist?
I interview. Happy to chat. What position? I was for a Corp Strat role
I think interrogating the company is always a good idea, although I tend to do it in later rounds. Always run due diligence (past 10-Ks, news, investor relations, etc.,) on the company you’re joining and the interviews are to help you decide as well!
Yes go into stores but make sure you know the website too! #ux #omnichannel
Also Corp Strat in a team that sits within Gap Inc., but the role focuses on Banana Republic. Yes, I’d be very happy to chat! DM or do you have a burner email?
^ that’s good advice. What do you do?
Thanks all! I’m doing the general prep but was wondering more specifically when is the right time to ask re: any negative vibe due to the company’s performance (e.g. is there stress due to store closures, could this team be a target for layoffs, etc.). Seems like it would be best to ask those questions during negotiations, if I get an offer :/
