I left. Took me 22 years but did it
We’re in a same boat! We live by the beach in Venice (hard to leave)! We’ve been thinking to move to Tennessee and we finally made the first step. We rented a house for a month and a half in TN and left LA. I know it’s cold, not a great time of the year but we had to give it a try. Now, it’s been 3 days and I’m going crazy already! I’m not sure if I can make it without seeing a friend or people walking on the street. How did you manage?
My company is fully remote and distributed across the country. Every meeting for the last two weeks starts with everyone saying how cold it is where they are. I keep quiet. What should I say, that I just hiked in shorts and a tshirt overlooking the Pacific Ocean?

Today was one of those days I really hated it. Look around during my drive to and from work and kept thinking how much I hate this place. Lol
Can people explain the reasons why you hate it? The grass is not greener. Feels like everyone hates where they live.
That LA people stereotype only applies for those people in that bubble. If you’re in the entertainment field or hang out at social media parties, of course that’s what you’ll see. Avoid Hollywood and it’s just regular people.
I left to NYC a year and a half ago and best decision I ever made. Wasn’t easy leaving family and friends but so glad I pulled the trigger and left. LA has its perks but overall I don’t think it is worth the cost these days. Traffic and lack of public transport makes living in this city almost unbearable.

I love it but there’s no question that it’s gotten appreciably worse. But at the end of the day there’s no where else that we could have this weather and access to the outdoors and cultural activities that we do here. That said I do often think about potential alternatives but none has made the cut as a practical matter.
Atlanta cannot even be compared to LA! No Atlanta.
No, I love it here.
