Any ideas on turning string data into numerical data in excel that’s faster/easier to automate/better than using text to columns? Wish I could use alteryx, but not an option for this use case.

My friend received two job offers for Account Executive roles: a Mid-Market role with Confluent and an Enterprise role with ThoughtSpot. He’s conflicted because Confluent is a more established company, ThoughtSpot is Pre-IPO. Confluent is a lucrative product to sell and has established SDR reps so there’s a good blend of inbound and outbound sales. Thoughtspot is more of a startup culture where most of the sales comes from outbound and it’s a tougher sell.

How can I add multiple characteristics within one cell and make sure that a pivot table can read both values independently if needed? E.g., I have a column titled “color” and in one cell I write “red” and the other “red, blue”. I’d like a pivot table / formula to be able to count that there are technically two “reds” in this data set. Any tips?

Need help with a formula. I’m downloading bank statements to excel and I’m trying to do a lookup so it fills in the category based on the bank description. The problem is I’m trying to use the entire bank description as my lookup value, but the table array I’m searching only has the first part of the descriptions (because the last parts are all different bank ref numbers). Today I encountered the strangest bug I have ever seen with Excel+Thinkcell. I have, as always, a separate Thinkcell sheet where I gather and structure the data (from other sheets) I want to make charts of. However, when linking this data to charts, all formulas in the sheet turns into values. This has never happened before. Anyone else seen this and knows what is going on?
