Working at Safeway for a year might detoxify my soul from 25 years in this business. Might.
Always good to have something to fall back on or move onto.
Do it quick. We are heading into the CoronaRecession.
Think about the things that you like to do outside of work. Many hobbies can turn into “back-up” jobs.
If you haven’t already, start putting your money away. Think about what you need to save to weather a lay-off for months if not a full year.

I know a former ECD who has won numerous awards who painted houses for 2 years between gigs. I think he’s an ACD now.

Yes, this led to me taking coursework in UX (User Experience). I’m just about to make the jump.
I did it and it saved my butt. Not to mention, I picked a trade that allows me to craft highly creative work. Work that doesn't glue me to a desk and a screen. I always had Print Production jobs in ad agencies. It's hard to find satisfaction from routing PDFs for a dollar. I never imagined I'd make money by milking my creativity, but I have built a financial safety net from it. Also, I learned a lot by being the boss of my side hustle and starting a part time business. That sort of experience would never have come to me from my ad agency jobs, but it's applicable and valuable.
I had an opportunity to buy a couple properties so I am learning on now to be a landlord now. Plus my hobbies could possibly bring in income in “life after agency”
All. The. Time.
Every. Day.
I’m feeling the same thing but feel like I’m too old for a side hustle
Great excuse to reinvent yourself and try something new, adventurous, fun etc
This is why I try to keep my programming skills current. Learning Vue and Laravel currently.
Totally thought this exact thing last night!! Now, what trade would you do?
Not sure. But something that has legs when I’m 55!
I would so love to become a tattoo artists. Produce finished work every day.
Think about becoming a plumber at least twice a week
