24 year engineering career. I’ve worked 1/2 in government and 1/2 private industry.
Just left a different defense contractor and started as an Associate Director at Raytheon in RI.
My compensation is great and I have no complaints. I’m full time onsite but I was at my last company as well. Health benefits are overall cheaper and slightly better than my last company. It’s a high deductible plan with an HSA. 401k company match is slightly higher than 2 other defense companies I had offered from. (L3H & GD) The culture in my business area is great. Friendly people who have been very helpful. Most of the folks I work with are more senior (P5 and above) and have been here >15 years. Our business is growing and we’re already on pace to exceed our 2025 AOP. I have no complaints.
All that said, every large defense contractor will have varying culture based on business areas and locations. I’m in a great spot right now.
Yes. After 5 months I think it’s a place to stay for the next 3-5 years. I think learning, growing my network (internal and external), and get company funded upskilling.
It depends on the department/group. A P7/M7 pay band is a director title. It’s more of a pay band than a title, I think. In my group I have an assoc. director -> director-> VP, some places have a director-> sr.director -> VP.
