Hope you like 5 days RTO and random PIPs to reduce headcount. Yes, some people love it and thrive. Yes, it’s as intense, nonsensical and brutal as you have heard. Also, everything is a written memo. No charts and graphs. Everything in narrative “just the facts” form with no original insight or opinion. It’s a culture of its own and you either like that or don’t.
I have never worked there but I have a couple friends who do and they all have positive things to say about Amazon as a whole. Not sure about the intensity. They all seem pretty happy in their roles though.
It takes three years to completely vest the stock options and I know several comms people who left after four years.
My sister worked there and hated it. She worked in the music department but it was as intense as it sounds. Weekly checks on projects that were color coded by red / green / yellow and if things were in the red…. Not good. Also lots of report writings and she said it was the opposite of creative. Granted she had come from Spotify.
