Anyone suffering from perimenopause? I think I have it. I've been dealing with off-and-on brain fog, fatigue, mood swings, and more for over three months. Already on thyroid meds that are presumably balanced (getting this checked). I don't drink during the week, I exercise about 3 times a week, and get 7+ hours sleep most nights. The bags under my eyes make me look like none of that is true.

I'm feeling like a failure as a wife, mom, and my performance is starting to be affected at work.

How do you deal with it in terms of your career/job? My boss and company are very understanding when it comes to needing a day off here and there for health, but I'm still feeling like I'm not able to put in as much effort as last year. I'm terrified of losing this job because I'm the sole breadwinner right now, and we have 2 1/2 year old.

Did you get a full blood work up and CBC? It could be peri but also a few other things.

I have been on thyroid meds since 2018 and it’s a bit of a trip. Levels can fluctuate depending on a number of factors so it’s good you got that checked.

Mel Robbins did a great podcast about hormones with Dr. Jessica Shepard that was really helpful - would def recommend

I feel the same, this one was helpful though as someone who is constantly “at battle” with my hormones (or so it feels)

Hope the blood panel brings you some answers! Also make sure you are staying hydrated. I feel like that always helps

Honestly, I just deal with it. Take breaks when I need to. Eat healthy as much as I can, try to get to bed early, drink lots of water, work out, keep stress to a manageable level and just push through. Not taking any meds for anything which I’m hoping to push as far as I can.

Adding testosterone when I started perimenopause has been extremely helpful with fatigue and overall mood. My body still makes estrogen so no need to supplement there. I also take a 200mg capsule of progesterone each night, which has helped me sleep. Your PCP may not be a hormone specialist so I'd take what they say with that in mind. For example, doctors would say my testosterone at a 9 (forget the unit) was "normal" for my age of 36; however, I felt like garbage because my testosterone tanked in my 30s. So "normal" doesn't always mean optimal. Anyway, do some research on bio-identical hormones and get those tested from an expert on it. Defy and Elevate MD are two telehealth companies that I've heard good things about. I just use my gyno because she specializes in hormone therapies.

I started HRT (estradiol patch and progesterone) and it changed my life, seriously. Better sleep, less brain fog, minimal night sweats.
