Wrong bowl but I’ll say he has the qualifications to an expert in his field. He makes an excellent point about not measuring performance by spying on keystrokes and activity. Not sure what you’re debating here, micromanagement is never a reflection of happy employees and good leadership.
Don’t have a strong opinion on him in general, but he’s absolutely correct about this one
Some people need to be micromanaged, and some, with self/situational awareness, leadership needs to recognize who do not need to be micromanaged.
I am personally NOT a fan of micromanaging people or being micromanaged, but I have recognized situations where some employees need a push and that push comes from ensuring they are on the right track.
In regards to Adam himself, no particular opinion. He seems to be catering to the majority anyway.
I roll my eyes every time he posts something. Nuance never exists for him nor does perspective of working outside of a university.
Actually saw a job description for company recently where they want you on camera for the entire time (recorded) and keystroke logging.
Humans are humans, whether they are in the management or not. In my experience, the same analysts and consultants who crib about work life balance and micromanagement, when they become managers and above, mostly do nothing different and then analyst and consultants below them crib. Same holds good for SMs, they complain about PMDs, but when they move to the dark side, they do exactly the same thing their PMDs did to them.
Humans are hypocrites. A LinkedIn post can’t solve that.
