Do they mean they pay lower just for training, and then bump up immediately after that? It would honestly depend on how it was set up. Training costs are so much for new employees, I can understand, but it’s not exactly fair to advertise one rate and then put stipulations on it.
I’m not to sure!
Depends on how desperate the situation is. If you need income now, take it and keep looking. But if you do, know that the $18 might never actually happen. I've been burned too many times to trust companies that bait and switch like this.
Yeah it just sucks!
If youre desparate for a job take it, bur the bait n switch is a red flag for the conpany honesty
Definitely a red flag I think too!

Sounds like they need to specify the training wage in the post, it sounds like a bait and switch. I would specify the time period in which you will earn the lower wage. If it’s just a few weeks, I’d go for it.

Depends how much lower it goes and how long the training period is but it should've been specified in the ad ideally. Not a good start but not a complete deal breaker without full information.

If the pay changes at the last minute, that’s a red flag. Training pay being lower should be disclosed upfront. Sometimes you take it if you truly need the income, but you go in eyes open and keep applying. Bait and switch behavior doesn’t improve after hire.

That is frustrating. I usually see that as a red flag, clear communication about pay upfront matters. Sometimes a lower training rate is okay if it’s short and promised to increase, but transparency is key.
