Speaking as someone who has worked in a small market, a midsized market, and a large market, I would caution that the legal work gets less sophisticated and less lucrative the smaller you get. If you’re doing something like family law, it may not matter much, apart from the fact that small town clients may not have the need or resources for more complicated work. For corporate and business law, though, you’re taking a big step down, and you may have trouble returning to a big city practice should you change your mind later.
