Are you and your partner on the same page with spending and saving? In our house, I’m the saver and my partner is the spender. Sometime it feels like we’re playing financial tug-of-war sometimes 😂. We make it work, but I’m curious, do you and your partner balance each other out or butt heads over it?

Can't weigh in as I'm still very much single 😭😂. I like to believe my future husband, whoever that might be, and I will be on the same financial page. Money issues are the #1 cause of divorce, after all, and I have no intention of ever getting divorced. Not that anyone does, but you get my point.

Divorce is just so terrible. Make a decision and commit to your sweetie. I use the desert island analogy

My husband is definitely a saver with me being the spender, buuuut I’m also fairly frugal myself so we work well together. I just go through phases when I’m feeling low and I just really want to buy new things to feel better.

Oh I totally get the “treat yourself” phases, sometimes a little splurge feels necessary!

Being divorced with a generous portfolio and no one to enjoy it with is a big fail in my opinion

That’s so well said. What’s the point of financial success if there’s no one to share it with? That said, if two people fundamentally disagree on financial decisions, it might be a sign they’re just not the right fit for each other.

In my first marriage, I made the mistake of believing I could help my husband and his poor spending habits. Newsflash: I couldn't. I also couldn't stand by and watch my hard-earned money go toward repairing his financial mistakes. Let's just say I was a bit smarter the second time around and married someone who views money in the same light that I do.

That makes a lot of sense - being aligned financially really does make such a big difference in a relationship. Glad you found that balance the second time around!

My partner and I are so similar when it comes to savings. We both have spreadsheets with all our income and outgoings and are so on top of it :D We both did it separately before we met each other, so it’s a good fit ! :D

That’s awesome! You basically found your financial twin! I bet it makes planning for the future so much smoother.

I respectfully asked my husband if he would be ok with writing out the bills. He’s a little bit of a spender and I’m a saver. That helped a little but the truth is I’m more interested in having a 50 year marriage than being right. Right and lonely isn’t a win.

33 years and counting. I’m so blessed that he picked me. He’s just a little too much of a spender. No worries. It’s better than being married to a cheapskate. He respects my money management skills and I love him to pieces

My head is beginning to not hurt and that worries me. I am used to banging it against a wall the entire day (theoretically). I work with people that I struggle to communicate with and/or they are extremely uneducated about various things that I used to think were the basics. I grew up poor and paid for everything myself; Money drives me. Where do I even begin to look to know what I should be doing?Sales is too easy, I need a challenge. I am good at inventing solutions. Ideas?

I am pivoting out of a management/leadership operations role of 9 years and into a QI/Compliance role. It is a much needed change and career move/goal for me, yet I am having some undiscovered apprehension before my new start date of 9/13.
I believe everything happens for a reason, so I know this is the right path, just anxious about it. Thanks!
