At hiring, they gave me a lower title saying they wanted to 'see me grow into the role', but it came with no real growth plan. Now I’m doing the same work as people one level up, mentoring others, and billing just as high…for ~$15K less. Has anyone successfully pushed for a level correction and comp adjustment? Or do I just need to leave?

IMO you got played and now you need to leave. I say this as someone who got played too, albeit in a slightly different way.

If they’re not investing in your growth and underpaying you, they’re showing you where you stand. You’ve already outgrown the title, now it’s just about whether they catch up or you walk.

smart

Def need to bring it up in a professional manner, then can figure out if it’s best to stay or find a new role. Ask for a growth plan and how can you work together to get to the next level. Should naturally play into showing how you’re already at that level and get an answer on how you can move up.

You might not get promoted this month, but should get a better idea of timeline, and likelihood of promotion. Then, concurrently look at other roles and whatever happens first you can go with.

Story of my life

Sounds like they wasted your time.

Name the firm and where you came from. Sometimes we downlevel folks if they come from a less competitive firm. That’s based on the data we gathered on direct lateral hires failing.

Had my virtual on-site for an S&O L3 role 3.5 weeks ago (NYC, 5 YOE). I haven’t heard back on a decision yet, and was wondering how long it typically takes? I also know that I was one of the very first candidates to interview for this specific role, and there are atleast 2 more people scheduled for onsites. Does the recruiter typically wait for all candidates to finish their onsites before communicating a decision? Or if I haven’t heard back yet, it’s probably a reject?
