I'm partial to Kasia but it's proximity to me plays a huge factor.
Gene’s sausage shop in Lincoln square has great take home pierogis (frozen). We keep a few boxes of the sauerkraut ones on hand at all times. I love Tryzub too for all sorts of Ukrainian food, but good (not the best but definitely solid) pierogis
Unfortunately they started outsourcing last year and don’t make themselves. But Gene’s solid. Grew up going to their original Belmont location.

Sawa's Old Warsaw Restaurant
Staropolaka & Smakocz are our go-tos for traditional authentic pierogis.
Glad you liked them! They don’t advertise it; but if you ever need them in bulk, we order about 200 for Christmas every year. Happy Thanksgiving!
I like Tatas pierogis in Elk Grove, probably not the best per say but they have many different varieties and you can take them home
Red Apple.
Restaurant or take home?
Honestly Costco sells great frozen pierogis, I think the brand is Kasia’s. Super easy to make, I think it’s like a 3pk with 12 in each pack. Boil them for ~2min and then pan fry them in butter and onions, serve with sour cream and a sausage. Delicious and easy meal
Disagree on Kasia's
