Zaza’s in the best of all these and I don’t think it’s particularly close
Have not tried! Thanks for the tip!
Zazas 1000%. My bf is a ny pizza fanatic and this is by far the best we have tried.
Stopalong (also a fantastic burger)
Jimmys
Zaza
Paulie Gee slice shop
Bongiorno's
I second this
Craft Pizza or Jimmy's Pizza Cafe, in my opinion.
Paulie Gee’s, it literally is NY pizza
Just tried it. The cheese turns orange when cold. It is NYC pizza!
Jimmy’s Pizza Cafe.
Craft Pizza is probably the closest to East Coast. Dante’s is decent, but always a little over cooked. Dimo’s is ok too.
Piece, Nonna’s, Avec
Piece isn't ny style bro, it's New Haven style.
CD - That's literally how it's supposed to be and is one of the most popular styles around.
Robert’s Pizza & Dough Company in Streeterville. I don’t think there’s a close second.
Robert is from Brooklyn and makes the dough every morning. It’s kinda pricey but we’ll worth it. Great bar — get it fresh vs. carry out.
Lastly. Go Red Sox. F the Yankees
😥
Nancy’s in west loop
Jacks frozen pizza
Jimmy's, Zaza, and Nonna's
I’m from the East Coast, and Chicago’s take on “thin crust” now christened “tavern style” so disturbed me, it was literally the hardest part about living here. A round cardboard dough pizza that is made by a machine and covered in heavily processed cheese hiding the toppings and then they cut the round pizza cut into squares.
There are a few decent options now. But be careful. They mostly still label the cardboard as thin crust and not tavern style.
Detroit style is reminiscent of East Coast Sicilian style slices. Just with the burnt edges. Which frankly is amazing. If someone made a restaurant of just burnt pizza cheese… my god.
Little Ceaser’s.
Oh yeah, the downtown Corey’s NYC Bagel Deli has a pizzeria that they would bring in water from Brooklyn to make the dough. Pretty good slices, but have not been in years.
Pizzeria Lobo in Logan square
I dream of their pepperoni
Professor pizza is worth all the hype
You can use a platform like gold belly to have New York pizza shipped to chicago
+1 for Zaza’s!
