Biggest pet-peeve when getting a new job is providing work history -- most recently had to provide 10 years previous employment history... that goes back to when i was 18 and just working small part time jobs and working through college - i find it to be a bit much and would much rather provide X amount of previous employer... I can barely remember the jobs i had 10 years ago lol and, to top it off, they cant verify half of them because the people i worked with are most likely not there anymore.

There are many ways to verify besides calling them. They will likely also include them as part of the standard background check where they can pull from credit header information and other places.

That is completely incorrect.

Such a big pet peeve of mine is when applying to jobs and they ask you to manually type out every work experience from your resume.

Easiest to keep a text document with your work history to copy and paste into those annoying forms.

They can still verify it even if those same people don’t work there. There are almost always records. And it sucks having to put all that, but you’d be surprised how many people lie about their experience and job history.

On the bright side. It’s a good problem to have because it means you got a new job. Last time I did in 2021 I was annoyed but grinning because I got a nice pay increase lol.

Don’t worry too much about it.

Many companies keep no records. Costs money to do so. So many people come and go.

Couple companies I worked for went bankrupt- zero records exist

10 years isn't a long time.

What someone says about "pulling from credit header information" is just plain wrong - there is no standard background check available to an employer in the USA that will find out where you actually worked at.

As someone who does this for a living, you are plain wrong.

I have two job offers, one offers a salary of 61.5k and the other job offers an hourly rate of $27.65 with $41.48 for OT, as well as Sales Incentive Compensation Plan where the annual target incentive compensation is 42.86%. In other words, I could potentially receive quarterly bonuses that add up to around $24,650. However, that bonus isn’t guaranteed according to the offer letter and is contingent on my and my clients performance. Should I take the first job or second job?
