I have a background in ops consulting, would it be possible to break into Corp dev?

I lead corp dev at a PE portco and Ops is important to our process as we have to pay large multiples of EBITDA and need to make the integration work and drive productivity in the newly acquired company.

I recommend getting on some due diligence cases, ODD work. Also try to get on a post merger integration project or two. Those experience sets will bridge the divide.

I operate mainly within supply chain and procurement btw.

So I should try my hand at some working capital reduction pieces and ops due diligence (and strategy for good measure)

Yeah it’s just harder. I went from GPS to Corp dev

Ah. I majored in finance and just emphasized that to recruiters I worked with. They set me up with a company and I crushed the interview technicals and they also were willing to take a chance on someone without direct finance experience.

I could use some guidance on how to transition out of firm life into a government role. Prior to law: four years working for a state and a city, and four years before that worked at a consulting agency strictly serving government agencies and cities/counties. You’d think this would parlay well into the government roles I am applying for, but so far no dice. I’m entering my fourth year practicing as a lawyer. I love admin law, have some litigation and some transaction work as a lawyer. Thanks!

I graduated with my bachelor's in HRM and I'm wondering if there are any certifications or trainings I could do before I lock down on the SHRM-CP. I recently became HIPAA certified for my company and that got me thinking about what else I could do to add to my resume. Looking for good stepping stone certificates.

UK market is open only for niche skillsets ( Data engineer + analytics). Firms aren't interested in sponsoring rest all skill sets, as they can be filled internally. They have limited quota every year, and are very choosy when it comes to allocation. Preference is first given to EU nationals and then Asians during shortlist stage.

Referral works, but the person who is referring you should have enough clout in the organization to present your profile!

Wanted to get your advice/thoughts.

I'm a non-traditional CD analyst working in a niche industry (gambling)

My experience is as follows: BIG4 Audit > FP&A (CPG) > CD analyst (1 year)

I like my role (sourcing, modelling and strategy integration), however I don't see myself working in this industry long term. Without a generalist IB background, are my chances of transitioning over to a different Industry low? If so, is there anything I can learn or do (excluding IB)?

Thanks
