It is all crazy expensive.
You have choices, learn to do stuff, get money to pay someone else to do stuff, or don't get stuff done.
I split the difference between the first two personally, I'm not afraid to learn a new thing. YouTube is an amazing library of how to videos for everything.
20 years ago I knew nothing, now I've done two bathrooms, wood floors, crown molding and more.
I learned the hard way to leave electric and plumbing to pro's.
Depending on what you want to do to the garage, that might be the perfect place to learn. Leave the springs on the door to a professional though.
I'm not in construction, and I've not had the projects you mentioned done, but word to the wise...expect a hefty price tag. Last time we had renovations in our home, I had major sticker shock, but after getting multiple quotes all within the same ballpark, I came back down to earth and dealt with it. Just be prepared to take out that wallet.
