Breaking into freelance game programming is rough. My biggest hurdle? Finding clients. This industry's all about contacts, which I barely have.

How do other freelance game devs (artists, designers, programmers) land gigs? (Is cold pitching game companies a thing?)

"Niche down" is tricky for programming. I'm trying console ports, but not being a platform partner is a pain.

Is freelancing even viable in games, or should I just get a regular job?

Does your company have a Asian professional group? Since we are still in covid mode. What are you doing for the professional development classes / events. So we have done, Ask the recruiter, fireside chats w executive mgmt, events w Naaap and ascend. With everyone still working from home ppl are not engaged and it is harder for networking.
Let me know what other thing ppl are doing to drive engagement ?
