Increasing pricing and declining quality is such an L for me
And if you’re looking for investment, you also have to buy a specific model. I’ve heard from my friend that resell Hermès, that there are too many Birkin 35 on the market, and everyone want smaller bags, so Birkin 35 is not a good investment. Same goes for Chanel Boy bag.
It seems like WOC models are in the most demand now, but who knows what’s gonna happen in a couple years
Back in early 2000s before the conversion to Euros, my mom bought a lambskin Medium Flap for $900 at the Chanel store in Rome. Still blows my mind how inexpensive that was and how much the prices have inflated today!
LV did as well, a week or two ago.

I agree that canvas may seem to be a rip off in context of the price increase, but I also think that no leather is worth that $$$$, not even hermes (Like Bv and hermes both use the same 1% leather, and the just the brands themselves differ a lot by price). Hence I feel like the material of the bag and the justification of the price increase are not super relevant. Most of the luxury brands are 600-800% markup anyway, so we aren’t really paying for the value, but just the feel-good euphoria you get.
Its not often i think about this - the luxury market was pron not meant for ppl like you and I. The items are for extremely rich people who prob do not care about the wear and tear. At the end of the day a bag is still a bag. Prob the actual target customers are like us buying $80 bags and just consume as needed. It’s only the decade of social media that allowed us to have exposure to the ultrarich. Our purchasing decision is a result of capitalism marketing.
That said, lv canvas is known to be one of the most durable materials. I personally don’t have a big problem with it and their customer support is great. But i do know that usa made products are worse
