How do people find these roles? I have more YOE (also big law) than that (and a prior career in finance prior to law) and I can't get interviewed for anything near that.

Linkedin. But I’ve been applying for over a year, some on LinkedIn. Some where a recruiter posted about a role on LinkedIn, etc. I was in the final round for so many positions which I didn’t end up getting and a lot of them were like ~200-250k + 25-100k in bonus but all in office

Would take that in a second

Jeez this is phenomenal for 3 yoe. Congrats

I just accepted an offer for 160k, 25% bonus, and equity appreciation units. I’m in a LCOL area, first in house role (generalist) but have 5 YOE in litigation. I regret not countering after seeing this offer. Good heavens.

I have been giving interview from last 2 months and yet I haven't got a single offer and people here are getting multiple offers. Even if interview goes nice, I would get rejection mail.

I guess Luck matters a lot even if you perform well. There would be always someone who will do better than you.

I am getting demotivated, but have to continue trying hard.

I really wish luck could be on my side.

Would love some advice / thoughts. I went straight from law school to a corporate legal department in house for an asset manager. They like “home grown” talent and I “be worked hard and risen relatively quickly (AGC in 9 years). I work hard and get a lot of complicated deals done (structured products and private funds). I can’t shake certain people (in compliance department mainly) thinking I don’t have enough experience to do what I do because I didn’t come from a law firm. Any advice?

I’m in big law and on the cusp of making the jump to in-house. It sounds like the company I just interviewed with is getting ready to make me an offer. It’s definitely going to be a pay cut coming from big law but I do get some nice equity in the company. Is the jump worth it? Big law specialist with an offer to be the CFO and GC of a 250M AUM hedge fund. All in comp would probably be ~$300k, so about $100k less than where I would be in big law (including bonus). Potential to get involved in the business side, but most likely more of a back office role (I would also be the only legal hire - main goal would be cutting outside legal cost and streamlining processes). Does this sound like an attractive offer? What exit options would I have?

For in-house counsel roles, does firm prestige matter? I’m in discussions to become the GC of a mid size but international company that does ~$1 billion in annual revenue. Smallish legal department. They’ve asked for my comp expectations. I don’t have specific expectations but I want to be compensated at least market for a NYC based GC (which looks like cash comp of at least $300k plus bonus, etc). Any suggestions on how people would respond?
