For donors: who competes for funding, who do donors also consider giving to, etc.
For people who the NPO serves: who else offers services or information or advocacy?
But to your point, this is a space where cooperation should > competition so best to think about it mostly in terms of mental market share/CEPs from a landscape perspective and then navigate that landscape in partnership.

National Availability / Presence
Service types / Accessibility to services
Users / Communities
Messaging / Frequency / Activity
Partners / Partnerships / Endorsers
Sponsorships
That’s just a starter as I am sure there are many other avenues you could choose to review based on their sector, services and audience.
