Considering leaving MBB to join a FMCG. Corporate consulting role. Would be leaving at Manager level with Mba. What sort of compensation should I be expecting?
I’m interviewing for a role that is open to both remote and in-office (when it’s safe) work. Should I give salary expectations based on cost of living in the city where the office is located or based on where I’d live working remotely? Cost of living in the office location is a lot higher than where I’d live but since they are also considering in-person candidates, I know the budget is there.
I got a 2nd job offer after formally accepting another (both start in 2.5 weeks). Job Offer 2 salary is a few grand more than Offer 1(already acceted) AND pays 100% of health/dental/vision premiums, which will save me another few thousand a year. Both jobs are in a city notorious for it's high cost-of-living (my partners job is moving us from the midwest to SF this summer), so several thousand dollars difference *WILL* be noticeable. Is it too late to use Offer 2 to negotiate Offer 1?
Any tips for negotiating salary?
For folks who left consulting at manager level and went to FAANG or equivalent, did you take a pay cut? Im getting a lot of ranges from recruiters that are about 30-50k below my current comp for mgr and sr manager roles, even when factoring in equity (most are around 100k 4 yr vesting). So I’m interested in knowing what kind of roles are ppl looking at to get these 30% bumps on FB or should I be asking for way more?

I have a good offer outstanding from a tech firm (350K TC) and just got connected to a recruiter from one of the alternative investment firms (PE/Hedge/VC 35bn AUM) in NYC and it seems they want to go through the process with me. The base range given is 350K (excluding bonus and others). TC wise.. I'd like to try and see how far I can go but the tech firm is something that I really like. Is working at PE or hedge fund considered a prestige experience? YoE 14 all in consulting. Worth trying?
What's a typical first year Associate bonus in banking (post MBA). Friend said he knows a girl at JPMC who got 200k! That seems too high
Can anyone recommend a Time Management course for employees? Bonus if it is tailored for Outside Sales people. Online/Virtual would be preferred as the reps are scattered throughout the country. Thank you!
There is nothing tacky or wrong about discussing your salary with coworkers. It is a federally protected action and the only thing that can stop discrepancies in pay. Do not let your boss convince you otherwise.
A recruiter shared a salary band of 110-120 during an initial phone screen and I said it’s within expectation but didn’t commit to a number. However, if I get an offer, is it possible to negotiate after hearing the responsibilities of the position? I’d ideally like 125-135, but haven’t negotiated before. Appreciate any tips!
sitting on an offer from chiat\day LA right now, decent salary for a mid level designer, but i know i can make a lot more being brand side at a tech company, talking to a few rn. i’m wondering if i should do it for the experience and networking? how’s chiat\day lately? ive been freelancing and was hoping a senior title will make me give up that lifestyle. eventually i want to work on sets and do more things in entertainment honestly
Series D tech start up for a strategy and operations role in nyc - what is expected compensation/range I should be going for with base, equity, bonus?
Can anyone in Accenture recently promoted to manager let me know what the initial compensation is? I've heard it's 72K, plus 5.7K car allowance and minimum 10% bonus. Can anyone validate this?
Curious about client’s salary - what do Sales Team Leads in CPG make? Like at a Kraft or General Mills??
Has anyone here used a service to help you find a new job? I’m looking at one where they source and apply for jobs for me. They’ll also help me rework my resume, LinkedIn, and other materials, as well as interview coaching. I’ve been looking for a new position on my own with no luck for the past 6 months. The downside of this service is they charge a commission based on the salary for the job they place you in. Thoughts or advice?
Where do you work and what's was your bonus %?
I need your advice. If i was rejected for a role in Deal advisory, can I apply immediately to the same firm, but for audit role? Thanks!
Year 3 here. Lateraled from a boutique firm, I heard people talking behind my back negatively, saying I dont catch up with the firm culture (it's V20). It's a small firm of 12 (in Asia), and already heard it from 2 different sources. Should I leave?
Interview with EY as experienced hire in Program Management. Will they ask behavioral questions or is it more conversational?
Could use some 🐠 advice here! Two outstanding offers: - KPMG: Procurement Consulting Practice - Accenture: Business Intelligence Practice Both offers are comparable. What’s important to me: project variety, culture, growth, and wlb. I understand there are trade-offs, but which firm would be the best holistically. Any and all feedback is welcome!
what do you think is the most difficult type of role for an analyst to grasp without experience?
FAANG or PE Ops. I currently am in PE Ops consulting but have an offer from Amazon. Any ideas on what would provide more job security? Trying to decide if I should make a jump to FAANG
I’m in my 4th week of WFH. For everybody having a hard time being isolated, things get better per week ✨
Do MBB hire non-nationals to work in emerging-market offices or do they only transfer existing employees? Would be very interested in talking to a Westerner who’s done this. Am US-based now, but with lots of international experience + language skills, thinking of switching things up.
Moms, both husband and I are nearing the end of our parental leave. We live in a two bedroom in NYC. We are thinking of hiring a nanny. The plan is that I would work from one room and husband would work from another room. We can move the changing table and pack n play in the living room, and the nanny and the baby can hang in the living room. Does this sound like a good plan?
Any ergonomic chair recommendations?
Fishbowl pro tip: When you tap comment field it takes you right to end of a thread. Can prevent tons of scrolling, eg in the Deloitte $56k expense thread.
Asking for a friend. At what stage during the process of moving jobs did you reveal to your potential employer that you were pregnant? My friend is 4 months pregnant (not showing) and has her first zoom call interview tomorrow. Should she reveal her pregnancy from the get go? Or wait till the second round of interview? Or when she ends up getting the offer letter? Her current place of work has a three month notice period and the law in her country gives her a three month maternal leave.
Middle school teachers, what are the “must-have” books in your classroom libraries? I am a special ed resource reading teacher looking for some books that will make my kids WANT to read more!
Hello. I need help. I want to do HR strategy for orgs like strategy&, OW, or MBB. Right now I’m stuck in change management in my current firm 2 YOE, as a top performer however. Ways to either gain experience or reframe my resume to fit? Feel stuck.
Was hired into a company at a level that was more junior than my skills (Was out of work due to pandemic for a year). I’ve been at the company 5 months. We’re going through a reorg and my new position will really be leveraging my years of experience more so than other role. Is it appropriate to discuss a raise/adding senior to title? Or should I do the job and then prove myself then talk about raise. I have more experience than the senior members of my team.
