Let's talk salary.

I'm up for a raise soon and I'm at 43,000 a year. Anyone have any advice on what I should ask for?

In my experience a raise at merit isn't typically negotiable. There are targets and ranges given to you based on your performance and placement in the pay range for your job - lower, middle, upper. You can always question and push I suppose, but you don't go in asking for what you want. At my company at least it's just a numbers game because there is one bucket of money for a department and everyone has to stay within in.

I’m not the only one who thinks this??!?

Honestly I’d find another job. Even a retail firm will pay you twice that.

I think a role change/promotion would be anywhere between 7%-20%. If it's just a performance/ cost of living yearly raise then maybe 2%-5%. I'd honestly wait for other replies though.

Your increase has already probably been pre-determined. During your review ask what you can do to work yourself into a better position. If the money has already been pre-determined is there anything else you can negotiate for? More PTO, a better desk, time to volunteer?

It’s so hot, and instead of answering recruiters emails/calls I now am just trying to survive. I answered 3 calls randomly yesterday. 2 were crappy. One was a $87k offer with apple through Tata consulting services— which idk if that’s shitty or not. It’s “remote till Covid ends”

Woke up today and tech mahindra recruiter from last week wants to put me through a technical interview at $110k for a role in Redmond WA for an iOS dev role @ $110k. I think it’s also “remote till Covid ends” but idk 🤞

3 attorney firm. I’ve been here for 6 years and have used Westlaw exclusively. Now we are switching to Lexis because apparently Westlaw is too expensive. I hate change. I know where everything is on Westlaw and now I need to relearn. Apparently Westlaw will not budge on price and would rather just see a client leave than work with them. Super annoying. Any insight on negotiating Westlaw or transitioning to lexis?

Hello, I just had to vent a little and maybe ask for your opinion. So I’ve been working at my job for four years now and I’ve never gotten a promotion. On top of this, I do extra duties that my coworkers don’t do and struggle with the work load. I feel like I’m being taken advantage of and am not sure what to do. I feel like going to my boss and refusing to continue to do these extra tasks without extra compensation. Am I being a baby about this?

Got an offer from Accenture but they have mentioned only fixed pay and not the salary breakup which is very strange because I have not had any such experience with any other company. On asking the HR, she said there are no deductions from this fixed pay apart from PF and the salary breakup would be given to you on the day of joining. Is this strange or common?

Are they trying to lowball me or does this happen?

Aiming to do GRE / GMAT for round 2. Seems like a GRE of at least 324 for m7 looks about like the ‘minimum’ for a checked off box. So does a 720 for GMAT. Suggestions on which to take ? (Obviously a 330+ GRE or a 750+ GMAT would be stellar, but meeting the average / median seems like a good start.)

We experienced sales people are asking for a base and commission but I’m scared that I’ll end up having a base and the same thing will end up happening. What am I doing wrong?

I don't think I want to do the CISR since that won't do much for me if/when I move to underwriter. Is there something else I should consider? Do designations matter at the company level?
