Coming from creative should give you an advantage, if you position it as an asset: your first creative strategy project. Make the argument: creatives are a planner’s internal clients so you have actual audience insight they can make briefings better. And of course your work itself should speak to your strategic capabilities. Be prepared to defend your work from that perspective. All the best. I made the same move many years ago and I still hold that my years as a copywriter help me do my job. Writing is a strategic act, a declaration of intent. And one day you will bring that writer-strategy into a briefing and it will be magic. Here’s to that day.
