Dances? This is for middle and high school staff. Are your schools still hosting dances or have they changed to a different type of social gathering? Are dances highly valued and attended by students? Are you ever expected to be involved in them?

I currently work in the school district that I attended. We now host roughly 1/3 the amount of dances that we did when I was in high school. Middle school has gone to more of a game night kind of thing with an assortment of activities.

Looking back on my high school experience I think way too much emphasis was placed on dances and school social activities. I didn't go to many dances. Wasn't into dressing up for the formals and the other dances were mostly a hangout session. They were often a good excuse for students to lie to their parents about where they were going. Sneaking alcohol and marijuana in or consuming them before was the main thrill to many students.
I remember going to one very well attended informal dance after a football game against our rival school. There was probably 500 students there 3 teachers and one vice principal for supervision. An enormous crowd of students packed close to the stage which were impossible to monitor. Inebriated students, girls being groped and not much the staff could do about it. It kinda felt like we were in charge for once and the staff were powerless and seemed fun at the time. Looking back it really feels like we were in a dangerous and irresponsible situation.
Events like this are fewer and better supervised today. I think that's a good thing. But I also think that just having a fun evening of safe activities with dancing as an option would work better in high school.

No dances!

It’s more of a mix of sportsy things, music if you want to dance, ping pong, food/drink area, raffle - (not always) social event.. for middle schoolers.

High schoolers have homecoming, valentines dance, prom.

With that said, when I worked in elementary there was one elementary school that had a yearly dance for Kd, 1/2 (am); 3/4 (pm) following a shorty assembly. Staff got into it, it was so much fun. Even super shy kids would stand in their corner or with their friends and bee bop while others moved to the music. It was all over by lunch, or in time for students to line up get to their classroom and get their things for dismissal lol

We are a small charter 20 students, and we only have two dances, Prom and Homecoming. They are moderately attended, however only the couples seem to dance.

Tips for 6-month eval? Originally hired at 35K as assistant and was told if I performed well, I could expect to make 50K after a year. After one week, the operations manager resigned and I took over as a trial. Officially am operations manager, but no title (only verbal) and no raise. Owner likes benefits over big pay raises. Thinking about asking for 46K, new cellphone and official title change. I'm expecting some negotiating, which I've never done. 24F, AA Bus Admin, and overall good employee

Hello guys,
Today I had salary negotiation with
Capgemini , they are offering 15 lpa with 10% variable. I feel this is a bit low based on current market standards. I asked for 20 initially, but they are not willing to go beyond 15 without any counter offer. HR flat out rejected 20 saying business will not approve. what is the max they will give after providing counter offer? And if i join around November, when will i be eligible for next appraisal? They are offering c1 band.
