That's an interesting question. I'd be interested in reading more about that, how ethics from different cultures might clash with what westerners are doing with AI. Something I think about a lot is how the people developing AI seem mostly unconcerned with ethical implications, living in the tech bubble of obliviousness when it comes to basic ethics. And throwing other cultural norms into the mix really adds complexity to that problem.
I find it shocking how quickly ethics takes a back seat to progress or profits - in virtually every industry - particularly in the US.
That’s why we need tight regulations for everything from vehicle inspections to food testing to financial reporting.
The people building AI are generally libertarian and capitalist. The regulators needed time to catch up and figure out how to even begin regulating.
Unfortunately now in the States anyway those regulators are being defunded. We will need to rely on EU to put the guardrails on.
You’re absolutely right, building AI with mostly Western values can overlook diverse cultural perspectives. It’s crucial to have a broader, more inclusive conversation about ethics to ensure these systems respect different societal values. IMO It should be a more global, collaborative effort.

Ageree that it should be a global endeavor, but the parts of the world are at different stages of development.
