Do any of you get paid time and a half for working on Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day? Or better yet, getting the days off? This is my first job in a hotel, so it almost feels embarrassing to ask my coworkers or superiors about this. My family would love for me to be with them, but I got this job after a lot of trying and don't want to mess anything up in my first year.

It’s always okay to quietly ask your manager or check the employee handbook, they’re used to these questions. You won’t mess anything up by asking, and it helps you plan with your family. First years are tough, but hang in there! More flexibility tends to come with time.

Many big hotels do offer premium pay (like time and a half) if you work those days, but it’s not guaranteed by law everywhere, and not every property does it. Some hotels also let staff take those days off, but usually only if you have seniority

Fortunately, my current company and last company are closed both days. Not that I can do anything, when we open so early on Black Friday and Boxing Day.

The company before that, they were open in Thanksgiving, but I was salaried. First year with them, when still in training, the DM told all managers (store manager and managers in training) to take the day off (last day off until Christmas, probably). Except I had to drive three states away to cover a store without a manager. So I was the only one that worked that Thanksgiving.

I grasp your hesitation but it should either be posted what if any days are considered time & a half when worked or when asked at time of job interview any questions you may have or most likely they tell you open availability is warranted.
Not to sound pessimistic but know now where you stand and not teeter tot otherwise guess who will be scheduled when others will be enjoying their week ends and or holidays off.

Hi folks I got a call from a UBS recruiter for one of the jobs I had applied for Pune location. Unfortunately, the call got disconnected due to poor network at my end. And she did not call back.

The call was from this generic UBS HR number +65 64958000. I only caught the first name of that recruiter - Pooja/Puja.

Could someone let me know how to get back in touch with them? (I tried searching on LinkedIn but could not find the recruiter)

For all new home buyers, at what stage in the construction process are you experiencing delays? As per my builder my home is slated for Sept/oct '22 completion and the builder will be setting-up a pre-drywall inspection meeting for July 1st week. Wanted to get others perspective whether sept/oct '22 timeline is still a reasonable estimate (wanting to take a 180 day lock-in from lender)

Hi Fishes,

Need some suggestions from everyone. I have 4.5 years experience and I was working as contractor in ZS and my CTC in parent company was 7 Lakhs.

ZS were willing to offer me FTE as ZS but at a compensation of meagre 8.5 Lakhs. I tried negotiating but they sticked with this.

How come ZS do that? Why can't they pay more as they generally pay 15+ for 4.5 years experience.

Just starting The Office once again. This is endorphins for my brain!
