Hired a COO one month ago for the first time in 113 year history. Over-hired over the last year to the point where there are not enough desks in the offices so now colleagues have to back track and move to hotel desking. Every week, there are departures without context across all departments. Most people are bottlenecks in their roles with no strategic alignment cross-functionally - expectation is for middle managers and below to create alignment. You have to request a VPN and can visit literally any website without repercussion - so 99% of people don’t have a VPN. No formal NDA process in working with external organizations. There will not be enough parking for the number of colleagues they’ve hired at the new national training center in Fayetteville. Total branding/font suite changes every 12 months. Many senior leaders are former athletes and not business experts. There’s no formal professional development or training for upskilling across the federation. I mean the list goes on…
The COO probably needs more time to get their arms around the issues. I would think about how you can show up with that person to point out your observations and possible solutions. At least to put your focus somewhere positive while you job hunt and try to stay sane.
