What do you eat the night before and morning of a race? (5k distance)

5k is short enough that I feel the only thing you should avoid consuming is alcohol. Don’t eat too much right before the race.

You don’t need extra fuel for 5k. Stay hydrated. If you don’t feel comfortable running on an empty stomach, eat a banana 30 - 60 minutes before.

Just stick to food you know you tolerate - what you usually eat. Once switched to some fancy marathon meals (oats, ...) And had lots of problems in the run. Didn't test before as an ingenious last minute idea 😅

No booze the night before. PBJ about 2-3 hours before race. Maybe a banana 1 hour before. Constant water consumption up until 1 hour before.

Experience sharing on calories deficit -
I have a normal body build but want to lose a few pounds(especially around my belly). I am making visible progress now by eating less(work gets busy and I use that to forget about hunger), a lot of walking, have casein protein to feel less hungry. Diet is really what do the trick.
But there are drawbacks too - my energy level(especially around night time) drop significantly that the level of exercise I used to do feels hard (light/mid intensity)

I got out of my water drinking habit and finding it hard to build back up to 100oz + per day. I don’t like the fact I’ve added in drinks with fake sweeteners to get more fluid intake. What do you all drink to supplement water that is better than some artificially flavored and/or colored beverage? I feel nothing exists and I just need to get back to my water habit. I have been trying this cold therapy not for fat loss but for my mental well-being. I usually do 30 secs on and off for 3-4 times in shower and not sure if it is placebo effect but I instantly feel really good. Andrew Huberman has several podcasts on this topic if anybody is interested.

I work out pretty late (9-10pm), and always take a protein shake afterwards before bed. Should I just leave for the next morning if Im looking to lose weight? (Im already taking flavourless protein to minimize carbs and calories)
