Chief
5k is short enough that I feel the only thing you should avoid consuming is alcohol. Don’t eat too much right before the race.
You don’t need extra fuel for 5k. Stay hydrated. If you don’t feel comfortable running on an empty stomach, eat a banana 30 - 60 minutes before.
Just stick to food you know you tolerate - what you usually eat. Once switched to some fancy marathon meals (oats, ...) And had lots of problems in the run. Didn't test before as an ingenious last minute idea 😅
No booze the night before. PBJ about 2-3 hours before race. Maybe a banana 1 hour before. Constant water consumption up until 1 hour before.
