Sounds like I need to go to industry since a lot of my industry peers are going to security conferences.
I think you’re right. It’s unfortunately rare that the b4 will pay for, let alone be cool with you attending a cyber conference during the workweek. If your client is going though, that’s probably another story
I was told when I started as an analyst that the best way to get approved for a conference was to speak, so this is my third year speaking!
Times are tough even Ds need approval
Makes sense - thanks!
I’m curious to know as well which firms are paying for people to go to conferences. I have yet to find or heard of a firm that pays for people to attend conferences.
I recently attended a local conference that I paid out of my own pocket. Paying out of pocket to attend a large conference with airfare, hotel, food, etc is too much.
Why not prepare a paper and be a speaker at one of these conferences? Get more kudos for helping build your firm's industry profile and impress current and prospective clients. Usually if you're a speaker you get free run of the whole conference.
PwC has a rule in my practice that only Director+ can do this. Even if I help build something, I wouldn’t be able to present it. It sounds like I need to quit PwC and find a more supportive employer.
