I've experimented with sending two different resumes to a LinkedIn job posting. One was my actual resume. The other one shaved 20 years off my graduation year and experience. Guess which one got responses?
Well your actual resume of course.
Surely no prospective employer in their right mind would overlook 20 years of experience and wisdom when hiring 🙄
Yes on both ends of the spectrum and received you aren’t quite what we’re looking for.
My question is: Do companies (HR) post jobs with no intention of reviewing unvetted resumes while paying retained recruiting companies to find talent regardless.
Why post if you won’t take the time and courtesy to send the canned response of “this position has been filled”.
Maybe I’m just old or considerate.
Both. Old people were taught good business etiquette.
Hope not, I’ve been wearing that thing out the past couple of days along with connecting to everyone and their mothers Aunt Sally.
LinkedIn sends a message if your application get opened. So if you don’t get one of those messages, they didn’t even see it at all.
"But we have to hire from abroad because no one in America has the skills we need" 🤨
Is the “easy Apply” button a joke?
A bottomless ball pit. 👀
Are cover letters even worth writing? Seems like a waste of time unless you are going directly to a hiring manager. Thoughts?
If you can get to the hiring manager yes otherwise I don’t think so.
I rarely do on LinkedIn unless I’m SUPER interested or insanely qualified
